Liverpool Lighthouse employs 19 people through the Future Jobs Fund

Liverpool Lighthouse, Anfield Liverpool Lighthouse has taken on 19 Future Jobs Fund candidates through Fusion21 and in conjunction with Riverside.  Liverpool Lighthouse and Riverside have helped us find employment for many talented young people coming through our Future Jobs Fund programme.

They have recently provided employment opportunities for 19 people, jobs ranging from catering assistants, events assistants, construction positions, multimedia and marketing roles.

Fusion21 is working with the City Employment Strategy to create over 400 jobs over a duration of 18 months, so far we have placed 190 candidates through our FJF contract by working closely with our partners such as Riverside.

Liverpool Lighthouse is the UK’s first Urban Gospel Arts Centre, they became involved with the Future Jobs Fund after their business associate Riverside recommended them as a worthy centre to benefit from the scheme.

Set in a refurbished old cinema building in the heart of Anfield, Liverpool Lighthouse it is set up to develop its own distinctive, artistic image as a hot bed for urban creativity and commercial talent. It is Love & Joy ministry’s main contribution to the regeneration agenda for the area and uses urban arts as a tool to engage disaffected members of the community.

One of our recruits, Thomas Blaine, a wheelchair user, was struggling to find a job after graduating with a degree in Film Television production from university.  With the help of some of our partners we were able to find Thomas a position as a Media and Marketing Assistant with Liverpool Lighthouse, this position will enable him to gain crucial work experience that will enable him to develop the skills he gained at university.

Thomas is really enjoying his time with Liverpool Lighthouse and has told us of what a fantastic place it is to work, Thomas said of Fusion21 and the opportunities that the Future Jobs Fund is creating “They have been the first ray of hope since finishing university, offering the possibility of permanent employment. The placement scheme also offers continued support, which is really helpful for someone like me, who is working in full time employment for the first time.”

Thomas said of Liverpool Lighthouse “It is such a great place, - I’ve found myself working in many different capacities, opening up many avenues I never even considered previously. I’ve hit the ground running in the first few weeks working on numerous multimedia and design projects, as well as carrying out tasks which are new to me. I’ve enjoyed my time immensely so far and the staff here have been so welcoming and friendly, I really feel part of the team. I now look forward to the future knowing that the skills I gain here will be invaluable and look forward to the challenges in the months ahead.
Liverpool Lighthouse and Fusion21 are also fully supportive and helping me to undertake further work-focused training.”

Marie McConville, Liverpool Lighthouse’ Senior Education, Training and Compliance Manager said of the Future Jobs Fund and the opportunities its helping to create “I am very impressed with the high standard of the placements that have come from Fusion21, they are helping to build the capacity of the organisation and some have been instrumental in working on projects that will help transform peoples lives.”
