Fusion21 have been shortlisted for a Regeneration & Renewal award after a panel of 40 expert judges met to consider over 200 entries.
The judging panel were split into teams of five and allocated award categories that matched their specific areas of expertise. Having studied each entry in turn and debated its merits, judges awarded each entry a score out of 100, based on the general criteria laid down for the awards as a whole, as well as category specific criteria.
Fusion21 have been shortlisted for the award for ‘Boosting a Local Economy’, the winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Lancaster Hotel in London on Thursday 29 September.
Chris Murray, Chair of Fusion21 commented, “This is fantastic news for Fusion21, and a real testament to the dedication and talent of all our staff and associates. The Fusion21 model is the closest thing I’ve seen to a ‘perpetual motion’ finance model for local economies.
It delivers procurement that would happen anyway, and then, for no additional costs or grants, produces a skills and employment dividend that genuinely changes people’s lives and boosts local economies. What I hope this award will mean is that we can reach more people in more places with the Fusion21 model.”
The Regeneration & Renewal Awards is now the only awards programme dedicated to celebrating the work of all parts of the regeneration sector, from economic development to the physical and social rejuvenation of the UK’s towns, cities and communities.
Chair of the judging panel Adam Branson commented: "The fact that we received so many entries for this year’s awards is testament to ongoing desire to recognise the sector’s achievements in what is still a very difficult market."
He added: "On behalf of the judges and the team on Regeneration & Renewal and Planning, I would like to offer sincere congratulations to all involved in the short-listed projects."
