Merseysides Social Landlords commit to Future Jobs Fund at Fusion21 Lunch


Social Landlords from all the Liverpool city regions met at Fusion21 to reinforce their commitment in working together and promoting partnerships in order to help the unemployed back into work. The partnership between Fusion21 and the Regions Social Landlords, Knowsley Housing Trust, Liverpool Mutual Homes, Helena Partnerships, Villages Housing, Riverside, Wirral Partnership Homes and Venture has so far helped 40 local people into employment.

Fusion21 are part of the City employment Strategy’s Liverpool City Region Bid, they play an essential role in the Future Jobs Fund on Merseyside. They help source opportunities and place the unemployed into jobs with the Liverpool region Social Landlords.

F21’s Head of Skills, Jan Agger, commented “In previous recessions of the 80’s and 90’s young people in the 18-24 age group just sat on the dole. It wasn’t until 2 years after the end of the recessions’ that the unemployment figure for this age group started to decline”

“I think we must support the motto that ‘never again must we lose a generation who have never worked’.”

The Liverpool Regions Social Landlords are aiming to create nearly 400 jobs over an 18 month period with the help of Fusion21. The working lunch emphasised that all involved in the Future Jobs fund and are committed to working in partnership together and creating as many opportunities as possible for the unemployed in the Liverpool region.

Jan added “We believe we have a responsibility to help these young people into employment. We do not want to see a second and third generation who have never worked”
