The apprentice win was followed shortly after with recognition of the highly decorative work undertaken at the University of Leeds' Great Hall, a grade II listed building, built in 1849.  Bagnalls is the incumbent painting contractor at the University and this decorative project was a true test of the company's decorative skills.  A range of heritage colours from was used to emphasise the detailed plasterwork, which was further highlighted in gold leaf and gold paint.

The final win of the day was for an outstanding project undertaken by Bagnalls ICATS (industrial coating applicator training scheme) painters from the North West.  The contract was for the complete redecoration of the Docks Light Railway Bridge which spans the Canary Wharf complex in London.  The design was a realisation of the artist Sinta Tantra's vision, titled "A Beautiful Sunset Mistaken for a Dawn". The judges commended not only the finished painting works but also the way in which Bagnalls managed the project which required a fully encapsulated scaffold and complex safe systems of work.

Stephen Bagnall, the Group Managing Director commented "This is a very proud day for Bagnalls.  The project wins demonstrate the extent of our painting expertise and years of experience from the highly decorative painting undertaken at the University of Leeds to the specialist industrial work carried out at Canary Wharf."

He went on to say "As a company, we are all particularly proud of Kris Pilmer's achievement.  He is Bagnalls' fifth apprentice winner at these awards and testament to our commitment to developing our trainees to a high standard."
