Elderly residents and vulnerable people living across the country are benefitting from winter warmer packs to help them during extreme winter weather, thanks to Fusion21 and Sure Group.
An estimated 18,200 excess winter deaths occurred in 2013-14 across the UK, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics, and with rising utility costs and tighter household budgets, many more people are choosing food or fuel.
Leading framework contractor Sure Group teamed up with Fusion21 to create hundreds of bags to circulate to joint clients which included hot water bottle, blanket, soup, chocolate, pudding, etc.
Clients that have received the packs include Cartrefi Conwy, Six Town Housing, Leeds Federation, Golden Gates Housing Trust, Halton Housing, Guinness Northern and South Liverpool Homes amongst others.
Angela Perry, Director of Property Services at Golden Gates Housing Trust, said: “These packs buy into our ethos of improving the health and wellbeing of our tenants and we are delighted to work in such a fantastic partnership.”
Paula Campbell, Community Engagement lead at Sure Group, said: “It’s great to know these packs will get to people who need them and make a real difference to them at such a difficult time of the year.”
Dave Neilson, Chief Executive of Fusion21, said: “By working with Sure Group to assemble these bags, we are continuing to deliver social value to our clients and their customers.”
