Knockout donations for Milton Keynes boxing club
Amateur boxers who were left devastated earlier this year when vital sports equipment was stolen from their club have smiles on their faces once more, thanks to a local housing association and Fusion21.
Milton Keynes Academy Amateur Boxing Club approached Jephson Homes Housing Association looking for sponsorship to allow them to replace the stolen equipment, which included boxing gloves, dumbbells and medicine balls.
Jephson got in touch with its supply partners Fusion21, Shillingoak, CLC and Semilong Services Ltd responded with donations totalling £3,500.
Ex-professional boxer Allan Grainger runs the club, which is based in Leadenhall. He said: “We are a self-funded club and it can sometimes be a worry how we are going to pay for everything. We fund all the equipment for the people we train, as well as travel across the country to attend contests.
“I can’t thank Jephson and its supply partners enough: they are fantastic. The amount of money that has been donated will go so much further than just replacing the stolen equipment and we are so grateful.”
Gordon Ronald, Operations Director at Fusion21, said: “We are a social enterprise that delivers social value, and it’s great to be able to partner with Jephson to deliver just that in a local community, for a great cause.”
The club trains every Tuesday and Thursday from 7.30pm.
