Fusion21 helps Osborne Energy create new jobs and train next generation of green skills workers

Fusion21’s commitment to putting social value at the heart of projects has unlocked new jobs and green skills training as part of a three-year £12 million contract between supplier Osborne Energy and member Wealden District Council.

Osborne Energy used Fusion21’s social value tools to identify a host of social value projects as part of the works they won through our Decarbonisation Framework, which supports members in developing their net zero roadmaps, cutting carbon, and maximising cost savings.

The social value outcomes of the project – which aimed to support the decarbonisation of council housing stock - included the creation of two full-time Contracts Co-ordinator and Site Supervisor and Surveyor roles, along with one full-time role for a Site Operative.

Crucially, the project will also help train the next generation of green skills workers, with eight individuals also receiving accredited air source heat pump training.

Additionally, a total of £12,250 was donated towards community projects and local groups, while Osborne Energy staff spent 50 hours on social value activities, including resident engagement. £2,700 was donated to Heathfield & Horam Football Club, which went towards football kits.

The social value aspect of the works has been so successful that they were nominated for a Retrofit Social Value Award in the Retrofit Academy CIC Awards 2025.

John Puttick, Managing Director of Osborne Energy, said: “We are very proud of the social value works that we completed as part of the retrofit projects, this will be our second year that we have been shortlisted for a Social Value award via a Fusion21 project.”

Sarah Maguire, Head of Social Value at Fusion21 said: “We are always pleased to see recognition for the impacts of the social value work that suppliers undertake with our members, and Osborne Energy’s record in this area alongside the retrofit works means they will be leaving a lasting legacy within these communities.”
