Lot: Education Lot 2b

Sub-lot 2B Education supports the delivery of construction and new build projects for schools, colleges and wider education estates. Covering value bands from £0-£5m and £5m+, it provides a compliant and flexible route to procure capital works that enhance learning environments, expand capacity and improve building performance.

This Lot forms part of Fusion21’s Refurbishment, Construction, New Build and Modular Buildings Framework and is designed specifically to meet the needs of the education sector.

What does the Education Lot 2b lot cover?

Sub-lot 2B Education enables members to procure a full range of construction and associated professional services for education settings, including primary schools, secondary schools, academies, colleges and specialist provision.

The scope includes:

  • New build education facilities and extensions
  • Replacement school buildings and estate expansion
  • Major structural works and engineering projects
  • Design and build solutions
  • Site preparation, demolition and enabling works
  • Mechanical and electrical installations
  • Roofing, cladding and façade works
  • Internal fit-out and building completion works
  • Landscaping and external works
  • Construction project management and supervision services
  • Architectural, engineering and urban planning services

Works can support estate growth, condition improvement programmes, modernisation, sustainability upgrades and regeneration projects.

This Lot aligns with the wider framework’s aim to support public sector organisations, including education providers, in delivering capital works across the full asset lifecycle - from design and construction through to handover and operational readiness.

Designed for the Education Sector

Education estates present unique challenges. Projects must often be delivered within restricted holiday periods, on live sites, and with minimal disruption to pupils, staff and local communities.

Through Sub-lot 2B Education, members can access contractors appointed based on:

  • Proven education sector experience
  • Technical competence and capability
  • Regional coverage and local delivery strength
  • Capacity to deliver projects across both value bands

This ensures projects are managed safely, efficiently and in line with safeguarding and statutory requirements.

Value Bands

Sub-lot 2B Education is divided into two value bands:

  • £0-£5m
  • £5m+

This structure ensures that projects of varying size and complexity are matched with appropriately experienced contractors. It also enables smaller, regionally based SMEs to compete for and deliver lower value schemes, strengthening local supply chains.

Required Accreditations

All appointed suppliers have been assessed during the framework tender process to ensure they meet required professional, financial and technical standards.

This includes verification of:

  • Relevant construction and health and safety accreditations
  • Insurance and financial standing
  • Sector experience within education and public sector environments

These checks provide assurance that contractors can deliver compliant, high-quality education construction projects.
